Programme Content

FrontLine Diversity is a mudule-based programme addressing both the primary issues of diversity, including legislation and the business case, as well as related people management issues. The programme not only informs line manager's about the impact of diversity, it gives them the tools and resources to implement good practice.

Module 1 (One day)

Introduction to Diversity

  • The business case: understanding diversity and its impact on your organisation.
  • Understanding the changing demographics in the UK.
  • An overview of equality legislation.
  • Use of case studies to illustrate both legal challenges and best practice.

Module 2 (Two days)

Recruitment & Selection

  • Understanding the benefits of skill based recruitment.
  • Understanding and challenging stereotyping.
  • Recruitment advertising.
  • Job descriptions and competency based person specifications.
  • Interview and assessment skills.
  • Avoiding bias and discrimination.

Module 3 (Two days)

Managing Workplace Behaviour

  • Communication skills.
  • Leading diverse teams.
  • Understanding self and others.
  • Appreciating diverse working styles
  • Dealing with conflict and grievances.
  • Positively managing bullying & harassment.
  • Giving and receiving feedback.
  • This module includes the Strengths Deployment Inventory® (SDI) assessment tool.

The programme is supported by a comprehensive course manual and resource pack available on CD-ROM.
